Watermelon Habanero Margarita | Tailgate Cocktail

Tailgate season has officially begun. Or in my case, “homegate” season. Football is a major function in my house every season – wether we are going to the games or watching it at home. So I thought it would be fun to share with you another tailgate cocktail. This one is my Habanero Watermelon Margarita featuring El Yucateco Chile Habanero Green Hot Sauce.

I’m a sucker for anything Chile lime and a little bit of sweet and spicy. This one is refreshing, easy to make and delish.

El Yucateco Hot Sauces are an easy way to add flavor and dimension to tailgating/homegating recipes! Last year, I created the Beer Buster using the El Yucateco Red Hot Sauce. Check it out.

Watermelon Habanero Margarita:

Yields 2 cocktails

The Ingredients:

2 ounces tequila
4 watermelon spears
1 tsp El Yucateco Chile Habanero Green Hot Sauce
1/2 tsp of Tajin
1/2 lime

How to make:

  1. In a blender, combine watermelon spears, tajin and El Yucateco Chile Habanero sauce. Blend until liquid. At this point you can choose to strain the pulp or leave it (I left it!). You can also choose to add ice to make this a frozen margarita!
  2. In the glass you’re going to serve it in, dip a tiny piece of the lip into the El Yucateo Chile Sauce and then dip it in Tajin.
  3. Pour your watermelon juice from the blender into the cups
  4. Add 1 ounce of Tequila to each cup.
  5. Stir + garnish with lime
  6. Enjoy!

This recipe is completely adjustable to be as spicy or as sweet as you want it to be. My personal favorite is tajin and watermelon, so adding this green hot sauce just brought it up a notch.

Let me know if you guys try it!
