Taking Care of Yourself During THAT Time of the Month

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of Summer’s Eve.

Okay. This is something I thought I’d never bring onto my blog. However, when I polled you guys on Instagram, 91% said you’re down to talk about it. So, let’s do it.

That time of the month is my least favorite time. I’m cranky, I’m hungry, I hate working out and I want to eat alllll the chocolate with zero self control. It’s not cute. & poor Jose somehow deals with my endless “period mood swings” on top of my Cancer mood swings. He’s the real MVP.

When Aunt Flow comes around I totally find myself trying to make excuses as to why I can’t adult that week. However, I have a few things that I do to take care of myself and get my back into my normally functioning self.

Heating Pad: Game changer especially for my back or any spot that’s aching, really. I’ll use it while I’m sitting at my desk or laying down for the night. Look for cute reusable heating “pads” that you can easily heat up in the microwave. The one I have is shaped like a donut and smells like lavender.

Face Masks: I love a good face mask to help with any zits I might get around that time. Plus, a good mask changes moods! If you don’t have a heating pad, laying in the tub with a good face mask on does wonders as well.

Hygiene: During this time I still try to keep up my normal hygiene regimes. I will still shave (you know that’s the last thing you want to do!) and more importantly I go the extra step of having wipes on me at all times. Summer’s Eve has launched their new FreshCycle line which helps us ladies stay fresh during that time. There are three options to choose from, you have the No-Rinse Cleansing Foam that you can apply to toilet paper to freshen up, the flushable FreshCycle Cleansing Clothes for at home and the FreshCycle Cleansing Clothes individually wrapped for on-the-go.

They are all made with a patended odor-reducing ingredient, gently reducing period order without dyes, parabens and alcohol! Also formulated for the intimate parts, balanced to a woman’s pH and gynecologist tested for everyday use.

The individual wipes are life savers that I conveniently shove in my purse.

Summer’s Eve has a printable $1 off FreshCycle coupon available as well!

Working out: As much as I despise working out on my period, it always makes me feel better when I’m done. My “period workout” normally looks a little more sad than normal, but I still get it done. You can normally find me on my elliptical for at least 30 minutes.. on a very very low setting of course.

Moderation: Let’s be real. I have to let myself have a little bit of chocolate, especially on the first day when it’s cramp city. It’s ok in moderation. I have found that the harder the chocolate is to open, the less I eat. So chocolates individually wrapped in foil does the trick.
