We Bought A House

If you follow me on IG, you already know we bought a house! I had been hinting at it and even went on a little hiatus to deal with the in between.

Now that it’s all done with, let’s talk about it.

I NEVER WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN. Haha, seriously this process was nuts. Everyone warned me that it wasn’t going to be easy and that they would require a lot from me but, ugh. It was almost 3 months of pure chaos.

The process went a little like this: find realtor, look at A TON of houses, put an offer in, get outbid, look at more houses, houses off the market same day, FIND PERFECT house, put offer and start negotiating. That’s not it. Once your offer is accepted it’s just a whirlwind from there. Sorry, really not trying to scare anyone, but after the market crash, they reallllly put you through the ringer to purchase a house. It was definitely one of the most demanding couple of months of my life to date.

It caused me to have to put my blog in the back seat for a little bit and just handle it.

But, I’m here today to say WE DID IT! Also, I’d love to give you a little insight on what we were really looking for in a house and why we chose this one.

shop the post:

What we were looking for: you know those house hunter shows where they always give a checklist of the main items they wanted in a house? I 100% had one of those. I mean, this is a huge investment, you better get what you want.. within reason of course.

  1. Fenced backyard
  2. CBS (aka not wood)
  3. in Fort Pierce, Fl
  4. Something “newer”

As you can see, we went into this with a pretty small general list of items we wanted. But, as we started to tour houses, our wants/needs changed. The biggest thing that changed was, we started to realize that we did not want something “newer” because of it’s cookie cutter interiors and the lack of ability to “make it your own”.

What we ending up with:

  1. Fenced backyard
  2. Wood/stucco house
  3. in Port St Lucie, Fl
  4. House built in 1993!
  5. Vaulted ceilings (TO DIE FOR!)
  6. HUGE windows (what sold me on the house)
  7. Avocado tree in the backyard

Obviously, I’m so beyond excited. After all of the houses we toured, when I saw this house I immediately knew it was mine. This house also has a few design challenges, like the shape of the living room. But, I’m so so excited to figure it out and make it functional for guests.
