Prepare for Change

It’s time to get personal. I am getting ready to make a  change in my life as I leave the bank I am currently with to pursue a new opportuity at a different organization. There are a lot of mixed emotions going on here as I decided to take this on. As you know, my goal is to take my blog full-time. The fact that it has not yet happened is definitely weighing heavy on my heart. However, the decision to take on this new role came after some careful deliberation that will hopefully make blogging much easier on me.

This new bank is 15 minutes from my house, compared to 45 minutes! That means I will get home with plenty more time to do my house chores, dinner, workout AND blog. I know 30 minutes doesn’t seem like a huge difference, but I cannot tell you how excited I am to have more time at home. Aside from the commute,  I am crossing my fingers that the environment is more suited for me. Let’s just say it’s been difficult for me to handle going to my current job every day.

With all of that said, I wanted to bring you a few ways I prepare for change! It’s not easy, just embrace it.

change your mindset: Change your mindset in a few ways. Whatever you do, don’t bring your old job with you to the new job. The ” at XYZ we did it this way” does not set the right tone. Know in your mind that things will be different, you can always make suggestions on how to change things, but don’t let the old hurt the new.

be positive: Change isn’t easy! Just be positive and embrace the change. Know that you’re in the right place at exactly the right time. You’re also in control of your life, if you find out you made the wrong choice, something better will come your way. Enjoy the ride.

buy some new clothes: Duh, I had to throw this one in there. For me, it’s a new setting and I want to walk in there feeling like a new version of myself. Nothing makes me more confident then when I feel good in what I’m wearing.

get your car detailed: I know. This seems so petty, but it makes you feel like a brand new person. Why not drive to your new job, or new-whatever, in your new clothes and freshly detailed like-new car? Those kind of things make me happy and ready to take anythong on.

Nothing fancy, just some basic reminders on how to prepare for change.
