DIY Clay Drink Stirs

I’m clearly on a DIY roll. Hosting my Sips & Skulls party needed to be perfect. I also needed a reason to get all craft and stuff. All these random things I wanted kept popping into my head like a DIY floral wall and these DIY clay skull drink stirs. I am a sucker for simple details and I think these were the perfect touch! You can’t always find what you’re thinking in the stores, so sometimes you just have to make it!

DIY Clay Skulls Stirs

what you need:

Small Skull Cookie Cutter
Air Dry Clay
Craft Mat
Rolling Pin

Wax Paper
Small Skewers
Carving Utensils

set up: Set up your crafting mat on a flat surface and layer it with wax paper. The wax paper just helped with being able to peel the clay off without it sticking to anything. Then just roll it out with you rolling pin. Make sure you keep them kind of on the thick side.

cookie cut them: using a skull shaped cookie cutter (or any cookie cutter depending on the theme of your party) press out your skulls.

skew them: this is important! Put the cut out shapes on the skewers before your start to carve them. If you carve and then put them on the skewers it will squish them

carve their faces: we got a pack of clay carving tools and just went to town. There are no rules here and we all had different style in our Sugar Skulls which was really cool to see

let them dry: the clay should dry over night and you’re good to go!

How stinking cute?

You can even take it a step further and paint them, but I loved the minimal look of dried clay.  & also, you can really do this with anything not just skulls for Halloween!
