No Spend Month – Week 1

Woah. This was a bad idea.

Just in case you missed it here is my original post: [here]

Remember those 2 coffee splurges I allotted myself? Well…. I already used them… plus another and it’s only week one.

no spend month

Ugh. Other than that… let’s talk about how everything else went.

This is def. a more challenging experience than I thought, but very empowering at the same time. I have already managed to save $200 out of my $800 goal (what what!).

The week days went very smooth. I made all my breakfast and lunches for the week and made dinner nightly, to avoid eating out. This is pretty normal for me, so no major changes were needed for that to happen. Tuesday I did sign up at a local gym, however it was $10 to sign up and $10 a month, but! my job reimburses up to $10 for gym memberships. Essentially making this free!  This was the best idea I’ve had in a long time!

Friday after work I did decide to head to Michael’s to finish getting my supplies for my DIY St. Patty’s Day shirt DIY-2

Cute, right?!

I did take another shift on Saturday like I planned – extra income is always a good idea! Saturday afternoon was well spend with good company. I spent a few hours with one of my closest friends running a local bridge, catching up and exploring downtown. It was perfect! And I did manage to not go out and spend any money on drinking. No seriously.. that’s an accomplishment.

Now Sunday was another day well spent – the morning was beautiful so it was a perfect excuse to get out and take my pups for a walk through downtown. They love any chance to get out and just run, since we live in a condo with no yard 🙁  Diego basically owns everything in downtown now, since he peed on everything!  The rest of the day was spent at the mall. Although I tried to set the goal of staying away from the malls, it was for a good cause! AND I didn’t buy ANYTHING!! So proud of myself.

While it does feel good to not spend any money on anything frivolous it’s pretty difficult. I have to continue to plan out my meals and keep clear goals to get anything out of this. Meal planning is def the key to this!
